Description

Collectors’ Items “Capitol Records” – SPRO-9463. 1979. Purple 50s label design – large scrip Capitol logo lettering, noting “MFD by Capitol Records, Inc….” on the top edge of the label, and “Not for sale” on the right side of the label, above the catalog number and “ ©1979 EMI Records Limited.”  In spiffy collage sleeve. Both vinyl and cover – VG+

 

Another LP rumored to be a legit Capitol project, having been discussed here and there over the years proceeding. This one features rarities from worldwide Beatles releases – unique, UK, and first time stereo are the bill of fare on this. I believe this is a second edition, as I vaguely recall that the first had a true stereo of “I’m down” instead of the “Paperback writer” alternate mix.

·        I am the walrus – stereo of longer US single version

·        The inner light – the mono single version (it wasn’t mixed into stereo until two years later, and didn’t appear on anything in true stereo until 1981…)

·        Across the universe – stereo of the charity LP version

·        You know my name – mono single version, complete with the burp at the end.
