THE BEATLES - 'BEATLES FOR SALE'
This EXCELLENT 1st UK MONO pressing dates from initial December 1964 release on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1240
Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text and have 'Parlophone Co...' rims.
The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 1 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 503-4N & XEX 504-3N
Stamper codes: 3,6/ADT & 2,8/-
Vinyl weight: 152g
Housed in an outer laminated, 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed (uncredited) inner-flipback gatefold cover with outline front 'mono' indicator.
Complete with its original rice-paper lined 'Use Emitex...' inner-sleeve.
This copy comes with an original plastic outer cover from Brian Epstein's 'NEMS' Liverpool record store.

Both are clean & bright with minimal marks around each unworn centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Extremely clean, deep-gloss playing surfaces which are unmarked in strong daylight. Close inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveal some harmless wispy paper hairlines consistent with inner-sleeve removal, but no other visual blemishes or wear. Both sides of this high-quality pressing lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +
This superb sounding copy has received just minimal careful play on excellent equipment and the sound quality throughout is clean and clear with no trace of groove/playwear to any track. Even the most easily worn points such as the organ solo on 'Mr Moonlight' play perfectly with no break up or wear audible in either channel. In fact, apart from a touch of low-level vinyl background between tracks, there is nothing to fault on this monumental mono mix.
Cover: EXCELLENT
A respectable example of this incredibly fragile cover retains a clean, high-gloss front leaf laminate with just two small 'thumbnail' wrinkles and a faint crease in the upper left corner. There is minor shelfwear rubbing to the lower edge but all corners are free from any heavy bumps or bruises.
The inside of the gatefold is clean & free from any rubbing or yellowing to the white areas. Both ends of the delicate central hinge are fully intact and unsplit.
The rear panel is just as glossy and is again with just a faint disc impression from storage, but no creasing or any other wear.
The spine is square & uncrushed and all seams of the rear pocket are smooth & unstressed.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +
Clean, flat with just a few gentle storage bend but no writing, tears or seam splits.
