THE BEATLES - 'BEATLES FOR SALE'

1964 UK 1st *STEREO* PRESSING* LP

Without doubt, this is their finest sounding early stereo disc, with the 'breath of life' missing from the mono or any later cuttings.

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text & have 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 2 centre hole.

Housed in an outer laminated, inner-flipback stereo gatefold cover with outlined stereo logo.

Complete with its original 'Use Emitex..' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

Matrix numbers: YEX 142-1 & YEX 143-1

Stamper codes: 4/GH & 1/R

Disc weight: 146g

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT

A clean & undamaged pair with just a collection of light spindle trails around each centre hole.

Visual: VERY GOOD +

Both playing surfaces are clean and free from any significant surface marks or scratches when inspected in strong daylight. Close inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals numerous wispy wispy paper-type hairlines consistent with frequent inner-sleeve removal, but no additional marks or wear. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing with no signs fo any dishing or warping.

Play: EXCELLENT

Although this copy has received a number of plays, my careful play check at volume found no significant deterioration to the sound quality throughout. All track played with a warm and full and apart from a touch of light background during 'I'll Follow The Sun' and on the organ solo of 'Mr Moonlight' there is little else to fault soundwise and certainly much more to enjoy.

Cover

VERY GOOD

The delicate front leaf is clean, glossy & flat with just two 'thumbnail' wrinkles but no other creasing to any part. There is a little wear to the lower edge and a tiny 5mm tear to the right edge. The very dark rear panel bears is clean & unworn and free from the usual disc impression. Inside is clean & black with just faint evidence of some old adhesive tape to the upper part of the centre-hinge but no writing or missing paper to either panel. There is a tiny tear to the upper part of the fragile centre hinge but the lower part is undamaged. All seams of the rear pocket are smooth, unstressed & unsplit and whilst the spine is a little squashed, it is clean, fully worded and otherwise undamaged.

Inner-sleeve

EXCELLENT

Clean & crisp with just a little natural age-toning but no writing, tears or seam splits.
