Description
THE BEATLES
'BEATLES FOR SALE'
In the past, early 1970's issues of Beatles LPs have been unfairly judged as being inferior to 1st pressings. However, close attention to detail, and more importantly, sound quality shows that they sound as good as or in some cases, a little better than their overplayed, more expensive 1st pressing counterparts.
These discs pressed in the UK between October 1969 until late 1972 on 1 or 2 EMI Box, 'Gramophone Co..' rimmed labels, were pressed on high quality vinyl and in most cases used the same original 'tube-cut' mixes/masters as 1st pressings. All boast outstanding sound quality which later solid-state cuts never matched.
If you value sound quality and want to enjoy tube-cut UK Beatles mixes at a fraction of the price of the originals, look no further. You will not be disappointed.
This 'shop-new' disc is on the silver & black '2-EMI-Box' Parlophone label: PCS 3062
Both labels have 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' rims
The disc is housed in an outer-laminated, inner-flipback gatefold cover with a front panel 'stereo' logo.
Complete with its original red & white printed EMI advertising inner-sleeve which shows the 'Let It Be' box set, Ringo's' 'Sentimental Journey' & Paul's 'McCartney' LPs, amongst others.
Matrix numbers: YEX 142-1 & YEX 143-1 (the same as the 1964 1st pressing)
Stamper numbers: 1,6/GDT & 1,6,9/LM
Disc weight: 153g
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: MINT
Perfect - no spindle trails to either side.
Visual: NEAR MINT
Both surfaces are pristine, unmarked and in MINT condition when viewed in strong daylight. Close & careful inspection directly under my powerful halogen light reveals just a few barely visible wispy paper hairlines but no other marks or wear whatsoever. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.
Play: NEAR MINT
This immaculate sounding copy was played just ONCE directly after purchase and transferred to tape and carefully stored thereafter in a clean, non-smoking environment. As a result, the sound is perfectly clean & totally unworn, sounding as good as the day it left the shop.
Cover
EXCELLENT -
A clean & strong example of this delicate cover with a glossy, flat front leaf which displays just a touch of shelfwear to the lower edge but no creasing or tears. The inside is clean & black but there awesome flecks of missing paper around the edge of the left panel, the inside of the cover is totally unworn and undamaged with both flipbacks in perfect condition. The rear panel is again clean & flat with just a tiny 1cm tear to the lower left corner & the inevitable light disc impression. The spine lies flat but it and all seams are undamaged.
Inner-sleeve
NEAR MINT
Apart from a hint of natural age-toning to the paper, this is in 'as new' with no writing, tears or splits.
