Beatles Four By EAP 1-2121, EP With Cover, Excellent!!!
DESCRIPTION
Four By The Beatles EP with cardboard cover. Capitol Records 1964 issue in stunning condition! Disk has a blue-green label. Perry Cox's guide says that on the green label, the word Records appears under the Capitol logo. I would assume he means on the disk, which it does not here, but does on the cover. Either way there is little value difference.
Disk; F1 - 2121 - G6 and F2 - 2121 - G6 #2 are machine stamped into the dead wax, and "I" over "AM" in a triangle on both sides. The disk is clean, a solid excellent. I am very strict in my grading, and think you will be extremely pleased with the condition of this. My excellent grade is a full step above vg+, not another word for it.
Cover; Gotta say my scanner is brutal on scans. Every flaw seems magnified by this thing, but I would rather it be that way than the reverse. Front cover shown first, back second. Cover also rates excellent. The wear highlighted on the back is not nearly as noticeable as it is in the scan, and the pink mottling is caused by resolution reduction required by ebay.
As you can see, I have shown all the edges and not cropped to favor the cover. Bottom and side seams perfect, top on the opening side, has been taped from the inside by someone who knew the correct way to do this, and is not noticeable. Repair is about 1 1/2" from opening edge back, but you would have to look for this. Disk entry is fine.
Play grading; I play grade using an Oracle Delphi table, MDC-800 Arm, and a Grado Reference cartridge. Let me tell you, this is a very revealing turntable and this disk plays beautifully. I would grade the play as a solid excellent as well.
So there you have it. A really clean copy of this rare EP. These just don't turn up in this condition often. I have to say that John Lennon's vocals on Mr. Postman are great. It has put me in a whole Lennon mood just listening to this. I have no idea why John always wanted to add reverb to his vocal tracks, well, I know why, but disagree.
