Here is a NICE BOX SET for someone’s vinyl collection!
-
“ALL THINGS MUST PASS” LP Box Set by GEORGE HARRISON
-
This is Apple Records STCH – 639.
-
FIRST PRESSING BOX SETS were initially issued November 27, 1970.
-
It has a 3-INCH X 3-INCH RED-OUTLINED APPLE STICKER WITH CLEAR BACKGROUND that lists the contents of the box set and the record catalog number adhered to the front of the box.
-
This BOX SET is an EARLY FIRST PRESSING. We know this based on the following:
-
The Box has the APPLE STICKER on the front that lists the Box Set Contents.
-
First Pressing Boxes have “APPLE STCH 639” printed on the spine. Second and subsequent pressings have only “STCH 639”, without “APPLE”, printed on the spine. (The box in this auction has “APPLE STCH 639” printed on the spine.)
-
Early First Pressings DO NOT HAVE the Apple Records address printed inside the box lid, but later First Pressings DO have the address printed inside the lids of boxes. (The box in this auction DOES NOT have the address printed inside the lid.)
-
“MFD. BY APPLE RECORDS, INC.” is printed on the bottom of the sliced-Apple labels on both EARLY and LATER FIRST PRESSINGS (with the exception of the “Apple Jam” disc that has it printed at the bottom of both labels.) Second Pressings on Apple Labels have “All Rights Reserved…” printed on the Apple labels, and subsequent pressings are Capitol Records pressings with Capitol labels, not Apple labels. (The labels on the discs in this auction have “MFD. BY APPLE RECORDS, INC.” printed at the bottom of the sliced-Apple labels.)
-
Early First Pressing Custom Inner Sleeves DO NOT HAVE the copyright information printed on them. Later First Pressings DO have the copyright information added to the custom inner sleeves. (The custom inner sleeves in this auction DO NOT HAVE the copyright information printed on them.)
-
-
This Box Set has 3 discs. Two of the discs have CUSTOM ORANGE-TINTED APPLE LABELS. The third record has GREEN-TINTED JAM-JAR LABELS entitled “Apple Jam”.
-
This Box Set was issued with the following contents that are included in this auction:
-
Box with Hinged/Attached Lid that holds the contents
-
3 Vinyl LP Discs
-
3 Custom Inner Sleeves
-
Color Poster of George Harrison that measures 35-inches x 23 ½ -inches
-
-
This box set DEFINITELY contains some of George Harrison’s best work including: “My Sweet Lord”, “Wah-Wah”, “Isn’t It A Pity”, “What Is Life”, “If Not For You” (a Bob Dylan composition), “Beware of Darkness”, “Apple Scruffs”, “All Things Must Pass”, and others.
-
The BOX itself is in NICE VG+ CONDITION with light overall wear on the front slick and a very small smudge inside the lid beside the listing of songs. The black textured rear of the box shows very minimal wear. THERE ARE NO CORNER SPLITS on the top/lid or bottom of the box! And the BEST PART: THE BOX LID IS STILL NICELY & SOLIDLY HINGED TO THE BOX BOTTOM. On many of these boxes, the hinging is destroyed over time causing the lid to be separated from the box bottom. And corners are so often split such that the box is flat and not even a box at all! BUT NOT THIS BOX! THE CORNERS & HINGING ARE QUITE SOLID!
-
The VINYL is in VERY NICE VG+ CONDITION with just a few very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (none “feelable”) on each side of the records.
-
The 3 TEXTURED-PAPER CUSTOM INNER SLEEVES (Purple, Gray and Green) that have song lyrics and credits are included. Overall, they have light to moderate signs of handling. The PURPLE SLEEVE has NO splits. The GRAY SLEEVE has 1-inch splits on both side edges and a 6 ½ -inch split on the bottom edge. The GREEN SLEEVE has a 1 ½ -inch split on a side edge and some light writing in ballpoint on one side of the sleeve (see images).
-
The 35-Inch X 23 ½ -Inch POSTER of GEORGE HARRISON is also included and is in VERY NICE NEAR MINT CONDITION. (Often this poster is missing from box sets of this George Harrison box set, because they were taped or tacked to bedroom walls.) There are NO tears and NO splits at any of the fold junctions (which commonly occurs from repeated unfolding and refolding the poster). The white rear of the poster only has some aging/foxing on one panel as you can see in one of the images.
A GREAT COPY of GEORGE HARRISON’S “ALL THINGS MUST PASS” BOX LP SET with the APPLE STICKER and POSTER to add to your vinyl collection!!
