Description

Here is a NICE BOX SET for someone’s vinyl collection!

·       “ALL THINGS MUST PASS” LP Box Set by GEORGE HARRISON

·       This is Apple Records STCH - 639.

·       It has the 3-INCH X 3-INCH RED-OUTLINED APPLE STICKER WITH CLEAR BACKGROUND that lists the contents of the box set and the record catalog number.

·       This is a LATER FIRST PRESSING of this APPLE BOX SET.

·       We know this because:

1)   The Box has the APPLE STICKER on the front that lists the Box Set Contents.

2)   First Pressing Boxes have “APPLE STCH 639” printed on the spine. Second and subsequent pressings have only “STCH 639”, without “APPLE”, printed on the spine. (This Box has “APPLE STCH 639” printed on the spine.)

3)   EARLY First Pressings do NOT have the Apple Records address printed inside the box lid, but LATER First Pressings DO have the address printed inside the lids of boxes with “APPLE STCH 639” printed on the spine. (This Box has the address printed inside the lid.) (NOTE: There is very little difference in the value between early and later first pressing boxes.)

4)   “MFD. BY APPLE RECORDS, INC.” is printed on the bottom of the sliced-apple labels on both EARLY and LATER FIRST Pressings. Second Pressings on Apple Labels have “All Rights Reserved…” printed on the Apple labels, and subsequent pressings are Capitol Records pressings with Capitol labels, not Apple labels. (The labels on the discs in this auction have “MFD. BY APPLE RECORDS, INC.” is printed on the bottom of the sliced-apple labels.)

5)   Early First Pressing Custom Inner Sleeves do not have the copyright information printed on them. Later First Pressings have the copyright information added to the custom inner sleeves. (The custom inner sleeves in this auction have the copyright information printed on them.)

·       FIRST PRESSING BOX SETS were initially issued November 27, 1970.

·       This box set has 3 discs. Two of the discs have CUSTOM ORANGE-TINTED APPLE LABELS. The third record has GREEN-TINTED JAM JAR LABELS entitled “Apple Jam”.

·       The box set contains:

1)   Box with hinged/attached lid that holds the contents

2)   3 Vinyl LP Discs

3)   3 custom inner sleeves

4)   Color poster of George Harrison

·       This box set DEFINITELY contains some of George Harrison’s best work including: “My Sweet Lord”, “Wah-Wah”, “Isn’t It A Pity”, “What Is Life”, “If Not For You” (a Bob Dylan composition), “Beware of Darkness”, “Apple Scruffs”, “All Things Must Pass”, and others.

·       The BOX itself is graded VERY STRONG VG CONDITION. There is light overall wear on the front slick with a few very light smudges/scuffs at the top center area of the front slick. There are a few small tears and some sticker residue at the top right corner where a sticker was removed. The black textured rear of the box has very minimal wear. THERE ARE NO CORNER SPLITS on the top/lid or bottom of the box! The box lid is still nicely (and solidly) hinged to the box bottom.  On many of these boxes, the hinging is destroyed separating the lid from the box bottom, and corners are so often split such that it’s not even a box at all! BUT NOT THIS BOX! IT IS QUITE SOLID!

·       The VINYL (all 6 sides) is in NICE NEAR MINT MINUS CONDITION with just a few very light surface hairlines/scuffs.

·       The 3 TEXTURED-PAPER CUSTOM INNER SLEEVES (Purple, Gray and Green) that have song lyrics and credits are included. They show VERY light signs of handling with NO SPLITS, NO TEARS and NO STAINS.

·       The 35-Inch X 23 ½ -Inch POSTER of GEORGE HARRISON is also included and is in NICE VG+ CONDITION with very light signs of handling. There is very slight wear on the top left corner and a very small ½ -inch tear at the edge of one of the folds that I mended from the rear using Lineco archival-quality Document Repair Tape which is acid-free, lignin-free acrylic adhesive tissue that is non-yellowing and stable over time. There are no tears or wear at the intersection of the center folds where such often occurs due to repeated unfolding and refolding of the poster. (Often this poster is missing from box sets of this George Harrison title, because they were taped or tacked to bedroom walls.)

It’s a GREAT COPY of GEORGE HARRISON’SALL THINGS MUST PASSBOX LP SET in NICE CONDITION to add to your vinyl collection!!
