UK first press of George Harrison's All Things Must Pass
The matrix numbers are YEX 817-1U, YEX 818-1U, YEX 819-1U, YEX 820-1U, YEX 821-1U and YEX 822-1U
The hinged box is the first press fatter box with ‘MADE AND PRINTED IN GREAT BRITAIN’ on the inside left and a white bottom on the inside right (later versions came in a thinner box with an orange inside right). It's certainly one of the better boxes I have seen - alot you see for sale have a lot of browning on the front picture but this one is almost free from any of that. It does, however, have a small sticker removal mark on the front and a very small amount of damage on one corner (not a bump - about 5mm of the black has come away, that's all).
The "printed in Great Britain" poster is present and is in more than excellent condition, no pin holes, glue marks, writing etc. A really nice example.
The original inners are present and do let it down slightly. Athough, at first glance, they appear to look great - free from any writing etc - all suffer from more than one seam split, a couple of which are quite long. Because of this I now have the records housed in plain white inners within the box.
For a fifty year old release the 3 LPs are in outstanding condition - all have a lovely shine with, to the naked eye, only the lightest of sleeve removal marks to be seen. Take a look at the pictures, there's hardly a trace of spindle wear, though the label on side 2 does have a mark which I've shown in one of the pictures (I don't know what it is - probably a printing error as it's not feelable). The last time I played the records, which was some time ago, I noted that they played through almost perfectly with hardly any background noise at all - certainly nothing to ruin the enjoyment. I can't see that this will have changed now as they've been stored safely though a light clean may be in order.
All in all a marvellous example of a first press that I am in no doubt you'll be more than happy with.
