Description
The Beatles' Greatest. German only LP. SMO 83 991. This is the rare 1st press original with the perimeter text on the white Odeon label that begins with "Alle...". This was the first style of white Odeon label.
The second style label began with perimeter text "Urheber...", which was used from 1966 to 1969. That is the more common, and less valuable edition of this German only record.
The 156 gram record plays beautifully on my Clearaudio turntable, with barely any surface noise and virtually no inner groove distortion. It's very difficult to have an original 1960's record that plays this nicely. Visually, the record has just a few tiny marks that preclude a NM grade. Cleaned on my Clearaudio Matrix cleaner and placed in a premium Japanese inner sleeve. The jacket's front cover is nice and clean. There are tiny creases along the perimeter, and a faint LP ring. The laminate is flaking on the spine, near Paul's ear, and in the corners, as well as a bit along the opening. The back cover has some dirt, ring wear and a tiny tear near the text for "Twist and Shout".
