Description

THE BEATLES - 'A HARD DAY'S NIGHT'

First issued in October 1969, the '1-EMI box' Parlophone label replaced the yellow & black design which had been employed since April 1963. All albums released with this label were cut from the same masters as the 1st pressings and in most cases retain the same matrices. Each was pressed on high-quality virgin vinyl and retain all of the warmth and flawless sound quality of the 1st pressings at a fraction of the cost, making them arguably the best value Beatles vinyl available.

This great sounding copy of 'A Hard Day's Night' is on that same '1-EMI box' EMI/Parlophone label: PCS 3058

Matrix numbers: YEX 126-1 & YEX 127-1 (the same as the 1964 1st pressing)

Stamper codes: 3,5/HT & 2/OD

Vinyl weight: 147g

Housed in a scarce front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover without a stereo front indicator with 'Patent no. 943,895' printed along the lower flipback. 99% of tri-flipback covers say 'Patents Pending'.

Complete with its original red & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve.

Labels: NEAR MINT

A superb set with just two or three faint spindle trails around each totally unworn centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Clean, deep-gloss playing surfaces which apart from some harmless light inner-sleeve storage/removal marks are free from any scuffs or scratches - even directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp.

Sound quality: MINT

Played less than a handful of times on good equipment the sound is clean, warm and clear throughout with no trace of any groove/play wear or any other audible distractions or wear throughout.

Cover: VERY GOOD +

This scarce variant cover has some light to moderate storagewear but no significant or major faults. There is some wear to the upper left corner but the exposed rear panel is clean & unmarked.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT -

Clean and flat with just a 1cm tear to one of the upper edges but no writing or seam splits.
