TOSHIBA RECORDS - ODEON OR-1139
JAPAN RED VINYL 45RPM PS
Mono Mix
Listed here for your bidding pleasure is a 45 single of The Beatles titled I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER b/w I'LL CRY INSTEAD, ODEON RECORDS OR-1139
Manufactured in Japan in RED VINYL by TOSHIBA MUSICAL INDUSTRIES LTD. This is the 1st pressing of this 45 (in red vinyl), released on 5Sep1964 in Japan.
Japan PS is quite different from the U.S. version as this is called the "wrap-around" sleeve. Record is placed in a company sleeve (Toshiba) then "wrapped" with the fold-out Picture Sleeve (PS)
This was customary for their records of first issues and was quite unique as their OBI's on their LPs. Interesting.
DESCRIPTIONS:
Please bear in mind that this record was manufactured and released in 1964, so that makes this "baby" almost 50 years old. Since purchasing this record i have never played it and have no idea
how it will sound when set on a turntable (i just bought it for the shear pleasure of owning a copy). It is therefore SOLD-AS-IS with no return accepted.
The 45 RED VINYL shows superficial hairline scratch when held in bright light, but i do not see any deep scratch at all. A VG condition considering its age. LABELS on both sides are clean with minimal smudge (labels are matte finish which are very sensitive to scratches and/or smudges). All SILVER LETTERINGS are bright with no fade at all. I will give it a VG.
The FRONT of the wrap-around PS has vibrant color, again considering its age. There are no tears on the surface nor on the fold. There are however some creases on its surface here and there,
(but not bad at all). The white portion of fold-out has considerable browning/smudge. The Toshiba company sleeve has no tears on its surface and on the seams but also shows some browning most specially on the edges... I have tried my best to describe the item but your most satisfaction is when you have the record itself on your hand, to appreciate its uniqueness. All gradings i used on all listed Japan 45s are just visual and not play-tested.
