 THE BEATLES - 'I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND'/'THIS BOY'


This rare UK early '70's pressing of their 1963 number one hit is on the black & silver Parlophone label: R 5084

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK...' text and have 'The Parlophone Co...' rims.

What makes this copy different from similarly labelled copies we have handled in the past is that this disc itself has characteristics & details of an early 70's EMI pressing rather than a regular 1960's pressed disc. For example the disc has a 'knife-edge' shaped rim and is slightly lighter & more flexible than the EMI's 1960's pressed discs. Add to this the incredibly high 'mother' number of '62', strongly suggest that this copy was one of the final '-1/-1' copies pressed. Also EMI was well known for using up stocks of labels on later pressings.


Matrix numbers: 7XCE 178559-1N & 7XCE 178560-1N

Mother/Stamper codes: 62/MLT & 23/MTO

The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in both run-outs


The disc is housed in a green/white 'swirl' Parlophone' company sleeve.



CONDITION

Disc: VERY GOOD

This disc has been received a moderate amount of play and whilst clean, both sides bear some light surface marks/wear & hairlines but nothing major or heavy. There is a small area of missing paper on the 'A' side label along with some light spindle trails around the centre hole. The 'This Boy' label bears fewer spindle marks and is undamaged. Both sides play without any significant deterioration to the sound quality or any major faults.
