READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles Incredible 10-Lot LP’s ALL SCARCE Labels, ONE UNDOCUMENTED, STARTER SET!

This lot is made up of rare label variations and hard-to-find issues and reissues.  One label, which is not documented anywhere in the great books. It’s a starter collection, so most of these LP’s will be in G to VG condition.  They will do very nicely as placeholders until you can afford to find your ten keeper copies!

1.  McCartney Self-Titled LP First Pressing Apple with Capitol Logo, Side 2!

One of the harder-to-find titles with the logo on Side 2.

Vinyl--- VG.  Both sides have lots of very light scratches, none that you can feel.

Plates--- Z11/ Z11.  Machine-stamped letter “O” in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Jacksonville.

Cover--- VG. Seams have some splits, moderate ringwear and dirtwear.  Initials in ballpoint on front cover.  Apple’s New York address office is printed on back bottom right.

Labels--- VG. Very light spindle marks and scratches.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white sleeve, has splits.

RIAA: N/A.

2.  Sgt. Pepper 1969 W9 Plate on Side 2 with Wrong Mix of “Good Morning, Good Morning!”

Vinyl--- VG.  Both sides have lots of very light scratches, none that you can feel.

Plates--- W9/ W9.  Machine-stamped letter “O” in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Jacksonville.

Collectors know that the W9 plate on side 2 was defective, and that the track, “Good Morning, Good Morning” drops the right channel after only a few seconds, and then it cuts back in toward the end of the track.

Cover--- VG-.  Heavy ringwear and dirtwear, both sides.  Gatefold has a center split.

Insert--- Insert is missing the badge.

Labels--- Excellent.  Tiny tears around the playhole on both sides, otherwise NM labels.  Both labels have a cool little error, where both of the rainbows are very miss-centered.  Side 1 label has the added error of being ghostly double-stamped.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

3.  Beatles’ Second Album, UNCONFIRMED AND UNDOCUMENTED APPLE Label!

This one is as scarce as they get.

I told you ‘bout the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer on the B-side, which was thought not to exist.  Very rare!

I told you ‘bout the Beatles’ Second Album, Side 2 label with the extra numeral 2 error on the label on the other Apple label variations.

This was the only copy I’ve ever seen with both until about two months ago, when I found my keeper after 40 years.

Vinyl--- Handsome VG.  Others might grade it VG+.

Plates--- R7/ W8.  Hand-etched Delta symbol (or rifle) in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Winchester.

Cover--- G.  But it’s a common cover, easily upgradable.

Labels--- VG+.  Were it not for several light spindle marks per side, the labels would have been NM.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 12.

4.  Help!  Scarce First-Day Issue, A1/ A1!

The comperes for a first-day issue are three:

a.) No songwriting credits beneath the titles, “The Bitter End” OR “The Chase” on Side 2, tracks 4 and 6.

b.)  Track 5 is listed as “You’re Gonna Lose That Girl.”  Halfway through the first run, as well as on all subsequent reissues, the track’s title was changed to “You’re Going to Lose That Girl.”

c.) A1/ A1 plates, both sides. 

Vinyl--- Solid VG.  Lots of original shine left.  A few long and light scuffs that you cannot feel with your fingertip per side.

Plates--- A1/ A1.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Cover--- Nice VG.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.  That includes the gatefold.  Moderate dirtwear to both sides.

Labels--- NM/ NM.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Original Capitol Olive Green inner sleeve is present and in VG condition.  Would easily have been NM, except for a 4-inch split at the bottom center seam.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A.

5.  Yesterday…and Today, 2nd Record Club Variation Green Label Hardly Ever Seen!

For those familiar with the Green Capitol Record Club issue of this LP, go get your copy.  This is the MUCH harder-to-find label variation with completely different typeset and font layout.

For the rest, please see the compere label in the photos to see the difference.  It took me nearly 40 years to find my keeper, and it’s still not NM.  Just a lot better than this starter copy for some hardcore labels collector out there!

Vinyl--- G.  Both sides are absolutely covered in light scratches and moderate scuffs, none of which you can feel with your fingertip.  Visually, it looks like there will be noise during playback.

Plates--- ST1-82553/ ST2-82553.  Not being a Capitol-pressed LP, there are no other plate numbers.  The catalogue number has the inserted numeral “8” in all places.

Cover--- Poor.  Um….ewwwuh.

Labels--- EX/ EX.  Well, at least the labels escaped unhurt, which is the important thing!

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.

RIAA: 16.

6.  Magical Mystery Tour RARE MONO MIX First Pressing!

Yes, this mix is very different from the stereo mix we all have heard hundreds of times.  A few very cool spoilers:

1.  No swirling backing vocals in “Blue Jay Way.”

2.  The swirling effect IS applied to “Flying” and “Your Mother Should Know.”

3.  There are some very cool differences in “I Am the Walrus,” which also differs from the 45 MONO mix from 1967.  See if you spot them yourself!

Vinyl--- VG Solid.  Only light lines on each side.  Lots of original gloss remains.

Plates--- F9/ F9.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Cover--- Nice VG.  Presents very well.  Top and bottom seams each have center splits to the slick only, but not to the seam itself.

Inside left gatefold panel has the “No You’re Not” parenthetical expression in block lettering, making this cover appropriate to the first pressing Scranton issue only.

Book--- Book is present, but detached, making this a typical guy cover.

Labels--- NM/ EX.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.

RIAA: N/A.

7.  Magical Mystery Tour RARER 1971 Apple Label Variation, Different Font and Typeset!

See compere photo for the far more common version we all know by heart.  This variation is definitely limited!  You might see this one once every few years, or you might not find one for a decade.

Vinyl--- VG.  Both sides have very light scratches, none that you can feel.  Lots of original shine still there.

Plates--- P1/ W2.  Hand-etched Delta symbol (or rifle) in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Winchester.

Cover--- VG+.  Very nice cover, minimal wear.  Presents very well!

Book--- Book is present and still attached.

Labels--- VG/ EX.  Side 1 label is also NM, however; someone wrote their initials, “JF” on it.  Gee thanks, “JF.”

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.

RIAA: N/A.

8.  Hey Jude, Impossible Label Variation with the Capitol Logo on the Side 2 Label!

Vinyl--- G.  Both sides are absolutely covered in light scratches and moderate scuffs, none of which you can feel with your fingertip.  Visually, it looks like there will be noise during playback.

Believe it or not, this was some newbie’s idea of a VG+ record.  Be that as it may, this is one of the hardest-to-find titles with the Capitol logo.

Plates--- Z16/ Z18.  Machine-stamped letter “O” in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Jacksonville.

Cover--- Poor.  Would have been an easy VG+, except that the album was shipped with NO protection, and the post office crushed the box.  The cover and inner sleeve sustained parallel damage to the box.  Needs to be upgraded.

Labels--- VG/VG. 

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.

RIAA: N/A.

9.  Meet the Beatles! Black Rainbow Record Club!  (Say no more…)

Vinyl--- VG-/G.  Lots of scuffs and light scratches, but none you can feel with your fingertip.  Looks like a noisy play, but these black label Record Clubs can be surprising.

Plates--- W1/ W1.  Has the inserted numeral “8” in the catalogue numbers on both sides.

Cover--- VG, now that the previous owner has neatly taped the seams back together.  Wasn’t me, I always make a mess of them, so I don’t do that anymore.

Labels--- EX/ VG+.  Those specs aren’t dust in the photos, they’re sparklies that reflected when the photos were snapped.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 16.

10.  Meet the Beatles! FIRST PRESSING MONO, NO PUBLISHING CREDITS!

(Who would I be insulting if I described this rare label variation, right?)

Vinyl--- VG-/ VG-.  Not well-cared for, but a very good starter for your collection until the keeper comes along.

Plates--- F3/ F1.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Cover--- Poor.  Needs an upgrade.

Labels--- VG+/ VG.  Has general, but not excessive wear for 60 year-old labels.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.

RIAA: 3.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
