Rarity: Very Rare especially so being a "Factory Sample Not For Sale" (Demo). No more than 500 Singles/Albums were allocated these stickers on 1st Pressings. These were handed out to Executives at EMI, DJ's and Major Record Outlets. These Factory Samples were NOT for sale to general members of the Public. This also come with it's Correct black Apple sleeve.

Brief Artist & Album/Single Info: "COLD TURKEY" is a song written by John Lennon, released as a single in 1969 by the Plastic Ono Band on Apple Records, catalogue Apples 1001 in the United Kingdom, Apple 1813 in the United States. It is the second solo single issued by Lennon, and it peaked at number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 14 on the UK Singles Chart. The song's first appearance on an album was Live Peace in Toronto 1969 where the song had been performed live on 13 September 1969 with Lennon reading the lyrics off a clip-board.

According to Peter Brown in his book The Love You Make, the song was written in a creative outburst following Lennon and Yoko Ono going "Cold Turkey" from their brief heroin addictions. However Lennon's personal assistant in the late 1970s Fred Seaman claimed otherwise, stating that Lennon confided in him that the song was actually about a severe case of food poisoning suffered by John and Yoko after eating Christmas leftovers "Cold Turkey". Lennon thought people would laugh at him if they knew the truth about the song's origin, so he said it was inspired by his recent heroin withdrawal. Brown states that Lennon presented the song to Paul McCartney as a potential single by The Beatles, as they were finishing recording for their Abbey Road album, but was refused and released it as a Plastic Ono Band single with sole writing credits to him.

"Cold Turkey" was the First song Lennon wrote for which he took sole credit; his previous compositions, including his first single release, "Give Peace a Chance", were attributed to the Lennon–McCartney partnership, although the credit for "Give Peace a Chance" was later changed to Lennon alone. "Cold Turkey" was recorded in Abbey Road Studio 2, and features Eric Clapton. There are other versions besides the single, several of which are acoustic, and a live version included on Live in New York City that features Ono adding vocalizations.

LABELS:

The Green Apple Labels with Play Out Loud printed across the push out centres are Both in Great condition with Hardly any spindle wear or spider marks to be seen, (These are Only noticeable when held up to a bright light) I would easily grade these as Excellent/Excellent+!!!!

VINYL:

Plays throughout absolutely brilliant, with no Pops, Clicks or Jumps. The record still contains that glossy sheen though there are several surface marks and thumbnails. However these in NO way interfere with the superb sound quality. This Single plays up to and  beyond its high visual grading with hardly anything of note to fault. It offers strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. A typical polished production from John Lennon. Minimal surface sound and no tracking issues. This play-grade proved a real pleasure when playing this fast disappearing single, this being the first example I have had for some time, and possibly the best all-round one for me yet. It will prove quite difficult to find a significantly better copy and merits a very strong recommendation. I would grade both sides as Excellent/Excellent+!!!!

COVER: This is the Correct Black sleeve with Apple printed in green to Both sides. Although there are no Writing, Rips or Tears the sleeve has Split on Two of the edges. There is Ringwear showing and some of the Black in places (mainly the edges and ringwear) has Faded. This cover is incredibly difficult to find in Ex+ condition simply because of it's design and age. However I would be happy enough to grade it as Good++!!!!

COVER SUMMARY: Not seen often, this one is in Decent condition with only reasonable clues of age, any blemishes mostly light. This classic cover should (as described) please many collectors.

Single Played For Grading: I play/grade ALL records I offer before submitting, I also play them in their entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end. I use a Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge and Linn Lingo, with my Linn system and Forest Totem Speakers. This system is guaranteed  to pick up any distortion or interference within the sound.

Grading: In my opinion I REFUSE to believe that there is ANY record that can be truly graded as Mint; the BEST that could be offered is Mint- (minus)!!!! Especially so from the 50's, 60's, 70's or even up to the present date!!!! Even copies bought new today would have some form of imperfection on the Record or Cover!!!! Under that assumption I will NEVER use the word Mint in any of my descriptions and Mint- is the HIGHEST grade I would ever offer. So I will only from Excellent, Good or Poor with a -(minus), +(plus) or ++(plus, plus)!!!!
