READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

I recently took in a large collection of Beatles albums, which range in condition from a nice VG to EX.  They feature labels from first pressing Capitol to Apple through to the purple Capitol label.  I tossed out all the garbage, and will be selling these copies interspersed with my regular inventory for anyone who would like to have great play-copies, but who generally can’t afford the rarer variations for sale.

The vinyl is collectable on these, although the covers may be a bit dirty, and/or split.  Here’s one that’s a great, solid keeper.

Beatles LP 1966 Revolver MONO First Pressing Capitol, VG++!

If you’ve never heard the mono mix of this phenomenal record, you’re in for a treat.  Some of the tracks have some subtle and fascinating differences.

“Yellow Submarine” has an extra spoken phrase by John.

“Got to Get You Into My Life” has a longer fadeout which features Paul’s very last improv vocal, “Every single day of my life,” which jumps to a high register on the stereo album staying in key on the mono version. Plus, there’s an extra few seconds of him vocal-vamping that was edited out of the stereo mix.

“Tomorrow Never Knows” has sound effects that come in completely different places, and not as often as on the stereo mix.  It allows for more music and vocals to be heard on the mono mix.

Enough spoilers.  If you’re an astute listener, you’ll hear many more for yourself!

Vinyl--- VG++/EX.  Side 1 has just a few very light scratches in a sea of brand new gloss.  Side 2 has even less of them.  None can be felt with the fingertip, because they’re so light.  90% new gloss on Side 1, 95% on Side 2.  Beautiful vinyl!

Plates--- G4/G2.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Cover--- VG+.  Structurally solid cover.  Front cover looks great, no dirtwear or ringwear.  Just a very little yellowing from the last 59 years.  Back cover has moderate to heavy ringwear, though.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Both labels look 1966-brand new.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG. Original yellow Capitol inner sleeve is present.  Presents very well.  Flat sleeve.  Bold colors and graphics.  Unfortunately, all three seams have large splits.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: None.

This is definitely a keeper copy.  Not NM, but it’s pretty close.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
