READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles LP 1966 Revolver MONO First Pressing in Shrink Scranton NM STUNNER!
Many rare Beatles albums still in shrink listed this week.
Fun MONO Mix Facts: “Yellow Submarine” has an extra spoken-word line from John, preceding the last verse. But the most interesting one is that the track, “Tomorrow Never Knows” has the seagulls/laughing sound effects coming in at completely different places than on the STEREO mix. In fact, there are so many places in which they appear that this track could have been used in an Alfred Hitchcock sequence!
Other differences exist, but I won’t spoil them all for you.
Vinyl--- NM/ NM. Drop dead stunning vinyl looks like you just slit the shrinkwrap open and pulled the record out.
Plates--- G6/ G2. Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.
Cover--- Excellent. Very beautiful cover! There are isolated incidents of light dirtwear on the front and back, but gently pulling the shrink away from the cover reveals that the wear is almost entirely on the shrinkwrap. There is a small area on the front cover where there is some very minor dirtwear, but part of that area is sticker residue. Light yellowing to the bottom right corner on the front.
Breathe Holes--- There are two breathe holes on the front cover. One is in Paul’s eyelid, and the other is due south in Ringo’s hair. There is one breathe hole on the back cover, just below the song titles for Side 1.
Labels--- NM/ NM. 1966-brand new-looking labels.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Original yellow Capitol inner sleeve is present and in Excellent condition. Has the east coast thumb curved top. All seams are strong, NO SPLITS. Colors are big and bold. The only issue is that there is some light wrinkling from improper insertion at the factory.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: None.
This copy is definitely and inarguably your keeper. If you give this one away as a Christmas gift, they owe you something really special!
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
