READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
I took in a large collection of Beatles albums this week, which range in condition from a nice VG to EX. They feature labels from first pressing Capitol to Apple through to the purple Capitol label. I tossed out all the garbage, and will be selling these copies interspersed with my regular inventory for anyone who would like to have great play-copies, but who generally can’t afford the rarer variations for sale.
Beatles LP 1978 Sgt. Pepper Canadian Colored Vinyl Vibrant Copy, NM!
**You know how most copies of this limited release has vinyl that looks like pig puke on cement? This copy actually has a generous amount of splatter, containing purples and reds. Gives it texture and depth to a greater degree than most which are predominantly grey.**
I brightened the colors on the close-up shots to show what I’m describing. But the LP looks much more like the shots taken at a distance.
Really nice one.
Vinyl--- NM/NM. This copy was either well-cared for, or just wasn’t played. Beautiful shine, beautiful brickle.
Plates--- G31/G38. Has the “Mastered by Capitol” machine stamp. Has the Canadian insignia of a circle with an “x” in the center.
Cover--- VG+. Top and bottom seams have moderate shelfwear. Front and back covers have light wear only. NO SEAM SPLITS.
Gatefold--- EX. Has hardly any wear. Tempted to grade it NM, but I don’t trust these aging eyes to scrutinize anymore.
Insert--- EX. Canadian inserts for this issue were printed on paper, rather than cardboard. This makes them very easily susceptible to finger divots from the slightest handling. This one has none. Zip. Zero. NO wrinkles, NO record outdent, nice and flat and razor-sharp condition. Just some light yellowing on the back. Has “Printed in Canada” on the lower left corner.
Take immaculate care of this insert.
Labels--- NM/NM. NO SPINDLE MARKS ON EITHER SIDE.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG. Canada issued this album with a parchment-textured inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show. These sleeves were incredibly susceptible to yellowing and then browning over the years. This one has browned almost completely, but there are NO SEAMS SPLITS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: N/A
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
