READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

So with that said…

For those unfamiliar, the 1969 Live Peace in Toronto LP from John and Yoko initially came with a calendar for 1970.  But once those calendars ran out and the album was supposed to have gone out of print, the Jacksonville plant only, printed up cards in which you could still get the calendar for free if you happened to purchase the album without one enclosed. 

These copies were in short quantity to begin with.  But what makes this copy more scarce is that a subset of those copies with the mail-in offer were printed with the Capitol logo and the “Subsidiary of…” text on the bottom of the Side 2 label.

A tough piece.  This one is complete, and in the original shrinkwrap.

Vinyl--- EX/ NM.  Although I bought this new, there is a manufacturer’s defect on Side 1 across the surface of the vinyl.  I test-played Side 1 at a friend’s house, and it plays EX/NM.  Sounds like a brand new LP.  I didn’t test-play Side 2 for obvious reasons.

Plates--- Z5/ Z9.  As expected for the very last few copies, the plates are late.

Cover--- NM.  Shrinkwrap is tight against the cover, and it did a remarkable job keeping the cover 1969-brand new looking.  Front cover has two breathe holes at the very bottom seam, back cover has two more near the bottom.  NICE cover.

Labels--- NM.  Both.

Mail-in Card--- NM.  Razor-sharp, flat.  Cream color hasn’t faded in the least.  (Interesting that the letter “O” in the words printed are the same letter “O” found in the trail-off areas of Jacksonville pressings!  One source was a typewriter, the other a lathe.)

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Issued in a white generic sleeve that somehow had faded inside the cover where the card was, and where the sleeve had been folded.

PS:  I’ve always loved that interview where Lennon describes this concert.  “That’s where I got up and did “Yer Blues,” and then Yoko got up and did her blues.”

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
