The Beatles – Rubber Soul 1965 – on the yellow & black Parlophone labels. PMC 1267 dating to the original release date of 3rd December 1965. Comes in its original 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse patents pending sleeve.
A truly superb audiophile copy which comes with a rare label variation. Side one has the san serif text whilst side two has serif text.

As John Lennon once said ‘Rubber Soul is when it started to get interesting’. A great album with tracks such as ‘Norwegian Wood’, ‘Michelle’, ‘Girl’, ‘in My Life’ and many more.
The workload of the Beatles in 1965 was enormous. After finishing their 2nd American tour at the end of August 1965 they returned home and under pressure from EMI were compelled to write, record and produce an album in time for the Christmas market.
It’s an indication of their genius; for what they came up with inside those few weeks was the masterpiece – Rubber Soul. Recording finished in November of 1965 and discs were cut on 17th, 19th and 23rd of that month and rushed to the EMI pressing plant in Hayes where production immediately started. The finished article was delivered into the shops on the 3rd December 1965. These -4 matrix pressings formed part of the original 1965 pressing run.

Visual: EXCELLENT+
The vinyl still retains its original rainbow sheen and has a ‘just pressed’ look about it. On close inspection there are one or two light superficial surface marks visible in daylight but nothing feelable. My overall impression is that the record has not received many plays in its lifetime. The disc lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Labels: EXCELLENT+
A fresh set of labels with little to no wear. There are a few spindle trails visible on each label and I would estimate that the record has been played less than ten times, remarkably few plays for a record which is now 48 years old. There is sans serif text to side 1 and serif text to side two. Side 1 carries the KT tax code.
Audio: EXCELLENT+ to MINT
Superb sounding audio with no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals. The richness of the analogue sound shines through on this audiophile copy. The only audible faults I detected was some occasional surface noise between tracks. All tracks however are flawless including the easily damaged, ‘Girl’, ‘Nowhere Man’ and ‘Michelle’. The analogue sound on this pressing is exceptional. Needless to say the record does not jump or stick.

EXCELLENT
A well preserved 1965 Garrod & Lofthouse cover. All flipbacks are intact and there is no writing or tape marks to the rear panel which grades at or around exc+. The spine is in perfect condition.
