Description

Welcome to 20th Century Collectables

Quality vinyl for the discerning collector

The Beatles –Please Please Me – Genuine 1963 1st issue UK STEREO pressing with 1st Mother stampers on the yellow & black Parlophone label without 'sold in UK' label text and with 'RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963'. Also comes with rare MT tax code, catalogue number PCS 3042.

20th century collectables is proud to offer this stunning investment grade copy of a UK 1st issue pressing of Please Please Me on the yellow & black Parlophone labels. Produced at or around the same time as the early black gold pressings with extremely early 1GG & 1M stampers.

Absolutely stunning vinyl that appears to have been played only once. Also an amazingly preserved 1963 Stereo E.J. Day cover with the large stereo banner.

Certainly from one of the first batches of PPM stereo records pressed for the initial release.

This record offers a great investment opportunity.

Don’t miss out!

Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1N & YEX 95-1N

Stamper codes: 1/GG & 1/M (1st Mother) (One of the earliest copies pressed)

CONDITION

Disc

Visual: MINT-

Beautiful vinyl which is virtually flawless and looks like it left the factory yesterday. It still retains its original shop freshness and high gloss rainbow sheen. Appears MINT when viewed in strong daylight. On close inspection I noticed a tiny mark on the run out groove on side 1. When viewed under a strong halogen desklight there are the usual fine whispy sleeve removal marks. This is probably as good as it gets with vinyl of this vintage. Grades very easily at nr MINT but not too far away from an all out MINT grade. The heavy duty disc lies 100% flat on the turntable.

Labels: MINT-

A stunning set of labels in near perfect condition. On very close inspection I noticed a very faint spindle mark on side 2. Indicating that side one has only been played once. Side 1 carries the rare MT tax code.

Audio: MINT

What can I say about this audio other than that this is the Hayes pressing plant at its very best. Astonishing STEREO separation on this UK 1st issue stereo pressing of Please Please Me. This has the same audio quality of a black gold stereo pressing which would have been pressed around the same time. Nothing to fault with only the sound of natural vinyl. Stunning unworn audio with the power and dynamism associated with these early stereo pressings. Other than this very careful playback it would appear that this record has only ever been played once before. This record deserves a good home.

Cover

EXC+ to MINT-

A fabulous and ultra rare Stereo E J Day cover dating to the original stereo release date of April 1963. The front panel retains its shop freshness and is completely unmarked and devoid of any thumbnail creases. The original opening edge is razor sharp and un-feathered.  The rear panel is clean and fresh. The only faults I can find with the sleeve is some light storage wear to the top right corner and some storage wear/ageing along the bottom flipback. Spine is in pristine condition.

Inner-sleeve EXC+

Clean & correct and fresh.
