Description

Welcome to 20th Century Collectables

Quality vinyl for the discerning collector

The Beatles – Revolver 1966 – UK 1st STEREO pressing on the yellow & black Parlophone label, PCS 7009 dating to the original release date of August 5th 1966.

Positively a genuine 1966 UK 1st STEREO pressing of Revolver and not a later pressing from 1968 or 1969.

Early stamper codes (side two is from the first mother) and a solidly constructed cover with fully laminated flipbacks confirms that this copy dates to the original release date of 1966.

1966 STEREO copies of Revolver are now becoming increasingly rare, especially in this condition.

In 1966 EMI were still producing vast quantities of mono records compared with stereo and as such these stereo records are far scarcer than their mono counterparts.

Whilst the Beatles were still living up to their ‘mop top’ image on tour, a completely different side was emerging in the studio. 'Revolver' is a seminal album in many ways; not only does it have great 'pop' tunes but it pushed the boundaries of music to a new level and is a Beatles masterpiece. This stereo version differs from the mono version in various aspects.

Happy bidding and good luck!

Disc

Visual: Side one EXCELLENT + Side two EXCELLENT

Side one is in stunning condition and appears virtually mint in strong daylight showing only the faintest of whispy marks; grades at excellent+. Side two has some light handling marks and whispy sleeve removal marks which are visible in strong light; grades at excellent. There are no feelable marks or marks that could be described as scratches; clearly a record that has hardly been played. The vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.

Labels:  MINT-

A stunning set of factory fresh labels showing only a single faint spindle trail to each side.

Audio:  EXCELLENT-

There is no groovewear to any of the music signals, however there is some light static and surface noise in the gaps and on some of the quieter passages. I noticed a single tick on the intro to ‘Love to You’. The audio may benefit from a clean as the vinyl has remained stored and untouched for most of its life. The record does not jump or stick.

Cover

EXC+ to MINT-

An original 1966 Garrod & Lofthouse STEREO cover in absolute stunning condition. The front panel retains its original ultra high gloss laminate finish and is free of any thumbnail creases.  There is some mild yellowing through age to the front panel but other than this there is little to fault. The rear panel is in equally remarkable condition with no soiling marks to the heavy black printed area. The rear panel appears untouched. All flipbacks are strong and intact. There is a very light laminate crease to the bottom left corner flipback. The spine is in perfect condition. A truly remarkable example of an original 1966 stereo cover.

Inner-sleeve EXCELLENT+

Original inner.
