READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP Rubber Soul UNDOCUMENTED Apple 1970 EXCELLENT

As discussed in previous auctions, the label variation with the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer found on the Side 2 labels of The Beatles’ catalogue titles prior to 1969 were long-thought not to exist.  Here’s another title that will be a long time before you find another.

Vinyl--- EX/ NM.  Side 1 looks 90% shiny, like new. A few very light lines that you can’t feel with the fingertip.  Side 2 has just a couple very small light marks that you can see if you hit them just right in the light.

Plates--- H17/ W18.  Hand-etched delta symbol in the dead wax makes this a Winchester pressing.

Cover--- VG+. Structurally very solid.  Light ringwear to the front cover, light dirtwear and very slight yellowing to the back cover. NO SEAM SPLITS.

Labels--- EX.  Very light spindle marks.  Otherwise, the labels are beautiful.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white inner sleeve with the die-cut hole for the labels to show through.

RIAA: None.

This is a VERY nice first copy that may well serve as your keeper, unless you prefer stone mint copies on the keeper shelf.  If this is to be a placeholder until you find a stone mint copy, you’ll certainly earn a good chunk of that cost back when you resell this one.  I’ve never found a stone mint copy, because I’ve only ever seen one other copy in 47 years.  That one is now my keeper, but it isn’t stone mint.  I’m just tired of searching!

For those interested, this copy is the one pictured in my upcoming two-volume set of American Beatles labels.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
