THE BEATLES - SGT PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND
This 1st UK mono pressing with black yellow Parlophone labels and 'Sold in UK..' label text dates to the initial release date of June 1967. Side two has KT tax code. Original catalogue number PMC 7027
A well preserved audiophile copy of this the original mono mix.
It is important to note that unlike the stereo mix and all subsequent re-mastered versions (including the 2009 mono re-issue of Sgt Pepper) this 1967 vinyl MONO mix is the only version of ‘Pepper’ to have been overseen and supervised by all four Beatles and no such version exists on CD. This is ‘Pepper’ as the Beatles intended. The definitive version.

Visual: Side 1 MINT- Side 2 EXCELLENT-
Side one is in stunning condition and appears completely unmarked when viewed in strong daylight, even under a strong halogen desklight nothing much more is revealed other than faint whispy sleeve removal marks. Side two has the occasional non feelable surface mark visible in daylight but nothing that could be described as a scratch and certainly nothing that effects the stunning audio quality. Grades at excellent minus. The heavy duty vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Labels: EXCELLENT+
A great set of unworn labels with only minor spindle marks. Side 2 has the KT tax code. There is no writing to either label.
Audio: MINT-
Outstanding unworn audio of this the definitive MONO mix overseen and supervised by The Beatles themselves. Of all subsequent mixes and remastered versions of Pepper including stereo versions, this is the one with Beatles seal of approval. It is now very tough to find this UK 1st press mono version with audio in this undamaged condition. All music signals are totally unworn and undistorted. Beautiful and rich analogue sound with little to no surface noise evident anywhere on the record. The intro to ‘A Day in the Life’ is quiet as is the intro to ‘A Little Help from My Friends’. ‘She’s Leaving Home’ also plays superbly. There are no pops or tick and the record does not jump or stick.
Cover
EXCELLENT
A truly excellent 1st issue patents pending Garrod & Lofthouse cover. The laminate is unworn and both the front and back panel retain an impressive high gloss sheen. There is some light thumbnail creasing to the front and rear panel panels. When opened the sleeve crackles as new and the interior gatefold grades at MINT-. The writing on the spine is clearly visible. Conservatively graded at excellent.
Cut-out – MINT-
Original cut-out in pristine condition.
Inner-sleeve Excellent-
Original red inner by ‘The Fool’. Some creasing but still very fresh with no staining or seam splits. Tough to get in this condition.
