READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles LP Sgt. Pepper Canadian Splash Vinyl 1978 Refreshed Plates, Limited to 25,000 copies

Those of us who were around will remember when the United States was issued the SEAX picture disc series.  This LP was pressed from the same plates as our picture disc, which had a couple subtle, but fascinating differences from the regular releases.

The first one occurs between the first and second tracks on Side 1.  Paul’s vocal gets buried in the mix in the right channel, which allows the listener the luxury of hearing a lot more audience ambience than previously heard.

The second one occurs on “Within You, Without You.”  Just after the Indian music break and just before George begins singing the last verse, you can hear George softly counting the off-beats in the right channel, so that he knows where to start singing. 

Headphones are very helpful for this one.  In a whisper, you can hear him on mike, going, “TAHHH-tuh-TAHHH, tuh-TAH, TAH! We were talking…”  That was mixed out of all of the regular releases.

Vinyl--- NM/ NM.

Plates--- F38/ G48.  “Mastered by Capitol” on both sides.

Cover--- VG.  Plenty of general wear all around, but NO SPLITS.  Back cover took the worst of it.  See photos.  Price sticker from a used record store is affixed to the front cover.

Insert--- VG.  Canadian inserts for this release weren’t cardboard, they were paper.  This one has some slight rippling from what appears to be humidity damage.

Labels--- What labels?  The whole sides are labels…or not…

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white inner sleeve with the labels to show through.

RIAA: N/A. 

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
