The Beatles – Sgt.Pepper – ultra-rare label error which omits ‘A Day in the Life’ on side 2. Yellow & black Parlophone labels and ‘Sold in UK…’ label text catalogue number PMC 7027. Dates to on or around 1968.
Of all label errors which have been catalogued, this label error with the omission of the seminal and climatic track ’A Day in the Life’ is the label error of all label errors.
Reported to be the rarest of all Sgt Pepper pressings; only a few hundred ever found their way out of the EMI Hayes factory and into the shops.
Whilst the omission of a full stop or a slightly misaligned word can often be used by sellers to promote or sell a 'rare' record, there is no denying that a label error of this magnitude is at the top of the spectrum. A massive oversight on behalf of the type-setter whose mind was clearly somewhere else. This ultra-rare variation is a must have for any Beatles collection.

Labels: EXCELLENT+
Due to the extreme rarity of this record most copies which turn up are usually trashed with worn out labels. This particular copy has truly excellent labels which are unworn with no writing or personalization. Label 2 lists the final track as Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) omitting the final track ‘A Day in the Life’.
Audio: EXCELLENT
Although there is some occasional surface noise and the odd light tick the audio is impressive on this original mono pressing. The quieter tracks such as ‘She’s Leaving Home’ and ‘When I’m Sixty-Four’ play superbly; overall the music signals are unworn.
Visual: VERY GOOD
This vinyl has various surface marks with some noticeable scuff marks, however none of these marks effect play.
