READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles LP White Album 1968 First Pressing, NO ERRORS, VERY Clean, Complete! A2215466

One of the best copies I’ve ever owned.  Time for someone else to enjoy it in their collection.

(Note to newbies: 2 million, 215 thousand 466 is not considered a low number.)

Vinyl--- Sides 1, 3 and 4 are so Excellent that others wouldn’t be at fault for grading them as NM, but I’m picky.  One or two extremely light stray lines on Side 1. Side 2 is in the same condition, with the exception of one short scuff through “Martha, My Dear.”  It cannot be felt with the fingertip.  (See photo.  I brightened the scuff to make it stand out for you.)  Side 3 has a couple of light scuffs side by side, but they are too faint to be captured on camera.  You’ll see them under normal light once you locate them.  98% original shine among the four sides.  This is a stunning set of vinyl!

Plates--- J58/J45. J47/J45.

Cover--- EX.  One of the best covers I’ve owned in 48 years of collecting.  Front and back covers have dulled and very slightly yellowed over 5 decades.  But there is NO dirtwear and extremely slight record outdent to the back cover.  Small punch hole at the bottom left corner, where the original price tag was attached in 1968.

Spine is muscular strong and squared.  Sharp edges, NO spine wear at all.  Tiny bit of foxing at top corner.

Top and bottom seams have just enough shelfwear to have rubbed the gloss off.  First top pocket has one small 1-inch split, the rest of the pocket seams are strong, with no further splits.

Gatefold is very strong.  Has yellowing about ¼ of the way down.  Center seam is just now beginning to weaken.  (To conserve the center seam’s integrity, DO NOT STORE THE LP’S INSIDE THE POCKETS.)  Song title listings didn’t fully print onto the gatefold cover, some fading is visible.

Breathe Holes--- N/A.

Labels--- NM, all four.  Under scrutiny of a bright light, you’ll find a wisp of a spindle mark or two.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Replacement white inner sleeves.  When I bought this copy, they were in mismatched company sleeves, one Atlantic, one Mercury.

Photos--- All 4 photos are EX to NM.  One finger divot each, and all of them in the same place.  Otherwise, photos are full glossy, stiff cardboard stock with the “Printed in U.S.A.” circle in the bottom left corner.  Later copies added the Apple Records and Capitol Records disclaimers.

Poster--- Strong and respectable VG.  Has two very small seam tears and a moderate amount of finger divots.  Yellowed.  Certainly not at the lower end of VG.

This Week’s Research Labels--- As a new feature to my auctions for labels collectors, I’m going to start a research project series for those who are interested.  This week’s pick is the 1975 Apple pressing of “The Beatles’ Story” with the “All Rights Reserved” disclaimer at the bottoms of the labels on two lines.  Believe it or not, copies pressed by Capitol with the concentric groove a quarter of an inch from the playhole are extremely rare.  By far, and I daresay about one in a few hundred copies have this concentric groove.  The rest have the concentric groove much closer to the outer edge of the labels, and they are pressed by the LA plant.  These scarcer copies are pressed by the Winchester plant.  See photos, and then see if you can locate one!

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
