The Beatles – White Album - Original 1968 UK 1st COMPLETE stereo pressing with original top opening numbered sleeve and dark green Apple labels with ‘Sold in UK…’ label text dating to the original release date of 22nd November 1968.

An excellent example of this UK 1st pressing.

CONDITION

Disc

Visual:

Disc 1: Side one EXCELLENT+   Side two  EXCELLENT-    

Disc one appears near mint when viewed in strong daylight. The vinyl is undulled and still retains it’s original high gloss sheen. Very little to fault on side one even under a strong halogen desklight only faint superficial marks become visible. On close inspection to side two and when angled towards the light there is a superficial faint mark running across the vinyl. It does however disappear in certain light. None of the marks are feeleable and they do not effect play.

Disc 2: Side three EXCELLENT+  Side four MINT-

A superb looking disc which appears vitually mint in strong daylight. Under a strong halogen desklight there are some superficial marks visible on side three with some whispy sleeve removal marks. Side 4 appears to have hardly been played and grades at near MINT.

In summary an impressive set of discs. Both discs lay 100% flat on the turntable.

Labels:

Disc 1: Side one EXCELLENT+ Side two  EXCELLENT-

Side one: A fresh looking label with signs of light spindle trails. Side two has signs of light storage marks.  

Disc 2: Side thee EXC+ to MINT-  Side four EXCELLENT-   

Side three is fresh with evidence of only a few faint spindle trails indcisating that side four has only been played a few times in its 51 year history. Side four has signs of light storage marks. 

There is no writing or personalization to any of the labels. All labels carry the ‘Sold in UK…’ label text.

Audio: EXCELLENT+

Disc one grades at or around excellent. There is some light surface noise in places and I detected a minimal amount of playwear on some tracks but overall the audio is excellent with no noticeable distractions other than 3 light ticks on Dear Prudence. The easily damaged tack Julia plays superbly. Disc two grades above disc one with most tracks grading between exc+ and near mint. Overall a great listening experience from this original 1968 1st UK pressing. Neither record jumps or sticks.

Cover

EXCELLENT-

A well presented and original 1968 1st issue top opening numbered sleeve (0531746). Only moderate signs of corner wear. There is some discolouration and slight yellowing to the cover, mainly towards the top opening edge. The interior gatefold is clean and undamaged, flipbacks are sharp and intact. Slight flaking to the laminate on the spine. Overall in above average condition and grades somewhere between excellent minus and excellent.

Inner-sleeves VG+ to EXC-

Original 1968 black inners. There is one small seam split to each inner but other than that in great condition. The circular cut outs are undamaged and untorn.

Photos Very Good

An original set of 1st issue photos on the thick stock of card. Positively dating to 1968 (not later replacements). There are some marks to the back of each photo which appear to have been left by paper clips. The photo of John has a small area of damage to his jacket and grades at Good +. Ringo, George and Paul grade at VG+ possible excellent minus.

Poster  Very Good

An original Garrod & Lofthouse ‘lipstick’ poster that positively dates to 1968. Clean poster with no writing, tape marks or pin holes. Showing signs of wear.
