Welcome to 20th Century Collectables
Quality vinyl for the discerning collector
With the Beatles - 1963 UK mono 1st pressing with ‘Parlophone’ rim labels, ‘Recording First Published’ and the ultra-rare JOBETE label credit and miss-spelled ‘Gotta’ on both cover and label. This copy was pressed ahead of the 22nd November 1963 release date on or around the first day of production.
Comes in its original and super rare EJ Day cover.
This disc has received only a few plays in its 52 year history.
I cannot emphasise how rare these early UK 1st pressing JOBETE copies are now becoming and especially in this condition.
Mastered at high volume with an enhanced dynamic, these -1N pressings were quickly withdrawn from production and replaced by a succession of different matrix masters before arriving at the most -7N common matrix.
Matrix numbers: XEX 447-1N & XEX 448-1N
Stamper codes: 1,2/TT & 3/GM (early double digit mono stampers)

CONDITION
Disc
Visual: Side 1 VERY GOOD + Side 2 EXCELLENT+
A fresh looking disc which has received only a few plays in its entire 52 year history. There is a surface mark visible across side one when viewed in daylight, however the mark is not feelable, does not affect play and does disappear in certain light although it is mostly visible. There are some other light surface marks to side one but none are feelable and none not effect play. I have graded side one at VG+ although it does not necessarily fit into the category that most VG or VG+ records fall into from this era i.e. overplayed discs that appear dull and lifeless; it still retains a fresh appearance. Side two appears virtually unmarked in strong daylight, under a strong halogen desklight nothing much more is revealed other than faint whispy sleeve removal marks. The record lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Labels: EXCELLENT+
A great set of labels with some light spindle trails. Side two label has the ultra rare JOBETE label credit and the miss-spelt ‘You Really GOTTA a Hold on Me’. KT tax code visible onside two.
Audio: EXC+ to MINT-
Fabulous dynamic audio with no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals. Most gaps are silent. There are no loud pops or ticks and the record does not jump or stick.
Cover
EXCELLENT
A great example of this ultra rare 1st issue E J Day cover. The front panel is in superb condition with no thumbnail creases. The rear panel is fresh, clean and unyellowed. All flipbacks are intact. The flipback along the top edge has some light damage. I’ve inspected it closely and as the laminate on the flipback runs through this area undisturbed it would suggest that this has been done during manufacture. The spine is in pristine condition. Due to their construction these rarer E J Day covers have not in the main survived well. This cover however is in remarkable condition for its age. Severely graded at excellent.
Inner-sleeve EXCELLENT+
Original 19643 clear Emitex inner. Clean and fresh with no seam splits or tears.
