Description
I am clearing out duplicates from my Beatles and Beatles-Related LP collection, so please check my other auctions for LPs that may be of interest to you.
In this auction:
· “WHATEVER GETS YOU THROUGH THE NIGHT” by John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Nuclear Band
· This is Apple Records P - 1874.
· This is a PROMOTIONAL SINGLE with MONO on the A-side and STEREO on the B-side.
· As you may know, PROMO RECORDS were released by record companies ONLY to the radio stations and DJs for airplay. They were not made available to the general public.
· This record was issued in September of 1974.
· This APPLE PROMO RECORD is quite significant, as it was John Lennon’s ONLY SOLO #1 in his lifetime.
· In fact, in November of 1974 John took to the stage at Madison Square Garden as a guest of Elton John because of this record. Elton had sung on “Whatever Gets You Through The Night” on Lennon's Walls and Bridges LP and had made Lennon agree to join him on live on stage should the record go to #1. As luck would have it, it did!!!

· Both the VINYL & the LABELS are NEAR MINT!!! There is a slight warp that does NOT affect play at all.
· A Near Mint Apple Records stock sleeve is included.

FYI: I use Goldmine Grading Standards (G for Good, VG for Very Good, VG+ for Very Good Plus, NM for Near Mint, M for Mint) to VISUALLY GRADE the LPs and 45s I auction, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding.
