Description
The Beatles "Love Me Do" b/w "P.S. I Love You" 1962 very rare and very early United Kingdom pressing, Parlophone 45-R 4949, this copy is missing the "MADE In GT. BRITAIN text, and I believe is cataloged by Bruce Spizer as PAR 4949.01B (iii) because there is a closing parenthesis after McCartney on the songwriter credits on the B side label; the matrix numbers on Side 1 end in "1N" and are apparently very early and indicative of Ringo on the drums, they are 7XCE-17144-1N on Side 1, and on Side 2 are 7XCE-17145-1N (Side 1 also has the tax code P/ZT in the dead wax at 9 o'clock, and the letter "GR" in the dead wax at 3 o'clock); the Side 2 dead wax also contains the tax code P/ZT at 9 o'clock as well as "GM" at 3 o'clock, note that the center portion of the label on the B side has the embossed tax code "PT" on either side of the center hole (see photos), this variation of the 1st Beatles record was probably issued very early in the Fall / Winter of 1962, the vinyl is a solid VG on both sides with noticeable playwear but no major scratches of any kind, the original U.K. colorful sleeve is also VG, straight and square but having a seam split on the bottom center and on one side (there is also a very small piece of writing at the top left on one side (see last photo)).
