I use the original Goldmine rating:
NM: Near Mint VG: Very Good(+ or -) G: Good I don't sell anything below G, and I don't use "Excellent"
Box:
VG: solid all the way around, some aging/wear, with a couple of scratches and scuffs.
Vinyl:
LPs are NM, with the following 4 exceptions:
With the Beatles: VG, due to one audible scratch on side 2, end of track 2 and beginning of track 3(check out picture) rest of the record is NM
Rubber Soul: VG+ scuff on side 1 track 6 - inaudible to my ears; rest of LP is NM
Sgt Pepper: VG+ hairline marks - slight background noise at beginning of each side
Let It Be: VG+ hairline marks - slight background noise at beginning of each side
