Beatles McCartney RARE Textured PROMO Cover 1976 Wings Over America US Vinyl 3LP

Very rare 1976 US Capitol copy of Wings Over America (SWCO-11593) with the promo-only textured cover. The texture of the gatefold cover (both outer and inside) is somewhat like vinyl - not at all like the (typical) smooth, semi-glossy cover construction on the common standard-issue covers.

Note that there were no promo markings or promo catalog numbering on the labels or in the matrix information (meaning no “PRO” such as Capitol usually added). They were/are the standard Capitol commercial pressings with “MASTERED BY CAPITOL” machine-stamped and the matrix numbers hand-etched in the trail-off area (LP 1 Side 1 shown in the pictures)..

CONDITION:

The entire set is gorgeous Near Mint, all the way (NM is the highest grade I use).

* Cover: Looks like new - no wear, writing, creases or seam splits. All four corners are square.

* Vinyl: All 3 LPs appear unplayed. Beautiful gloss, no scratches - just a couple of very light handling scuffs from the inner paper sleeves.

* Labels: Flawless, also suggesting the vinyl hasn’t been played.

* Custom inner sleeves: Beautiful - no writing, tears, creases or seam splits. As the pictures show, you can see a faint indentation from the vinyl in the upper right corner. (Difficult to avoid when they cram 3 LPs, 3 custom sleeves and a posted into a standard double LP gatefold cover.)

* Poster: Also beautiful, no tears or creasing or splits.

To preserve the condition, the 3 LPs have been stored in protective rice paper sleeves which were not kept inside the cover. The inner sleeves and poster were safely tucked away inside the cover. I’ll pack it VERYcarefully (always do), in this same way for maximum protection during shipping.

A stunning example of a very scarce piece that was under the radar for a long time.
