I hate to use the term rare as it is the most misused term on eBay, but this is rare. This is a brand new unopened copy of Sgt. Peppers. Done with great care by Mobile Fidelity Labs, this was a limited edition released in 1983. The recording was made at half speed from the original studio master tapes. It was pressed in Japan by the Japanese Victor Company on what was called "virgin vinyl" whatever that might be. The reason for the pressing in Japan seems to be that they had a much higher quality vinyl that was available in the U.S. at the time. Essentially it is a 14-year old new item.
I purchased this item in 1984 and it has never been opened. It has been stored standing upright, on display in my recording studio. It is a collector's item on several fronts, certainly not the least is the quality of the music and the recording process. I'm one of those who believes that there is more warmth and musicality in analog recordings, and reviews of this edition of the greatest album of all time have been very good.
