I grade conservatively. Grading for vinyl is VG-/ VG/ VG+/ NM and sealed. I do not use “EX”. 

I only offer trashed or unplayable records for auction if they are exceptionally rare.

original South African STEREO LP – Unplayed 

 

PCSJ 7027, Parlophone, E.M.I. RECORDS (The Gramophone 

Co. Ltd.), interpak, released 1967

 

Vinyl 

 

This record was sealed in shrink wrap when I bought it thirteen years ago. At some point 

in the last two years I removed the shrink wrap but I never played the LP. The vinyl has some 

paper dust from the original inner sleeve but, in terms of the vinyl, it is the next best thing to 

finding a sealed copy. When the LP is examined carefully under bright light, two light sleeve 

removal scuffs are visible on Side One, but the playing surfaces and labels are super clean. 

The LP is unplayed. However, since it is no longer sealed, I will grade as NM.

 

I would grade the cover as Very Good or better, depending on your criteria. Because the 

shrink wrap was removed within the last two years ago the colours on the cover (front and rear) 

are still very bright. The lettering on the spine is perfectly legible and there is no feathering to 

the opening. There is light wear to the seams and the beginning of an approx. 1-1.5cm seam 

split to the bottom seam. There is some ‘spotting’ (brown spots) along the top section 

(front of the cover) and there is wear to the corners. Ring wear and creases are also visible 

on the cover. Despite such imperfections the cover is still very well preserved for its age. It is 

also free of writing, tears, stickers. 

 

The chances of finding the South African pressing of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in such collectible condition are very slim.
