Rare January 1964 US "Blank Back"

Here is one of the rarest versions of the first US issued Beatles LP "Introducing the Beatles". The "Introducing" LP was originally issued in January, 1964--a full month before the Beatles first visit to the US--and initially featured a back cover advertising 25 other VJ albums and artists (known as the "Ad Back"). At some point, Vee-Jay decided to revise the back cover to feature song titles from the LP. In the switchover to the new "Title Back" cover there was a very brief period when LP covers came off the press completely blank! There are conflicting opinions on why Vee-Jay printed and issued these blank covers--some argue that they were production errors, some feel they were for "promotional" use--whatever the reason, very few of these "Blank Back" covers survive today.

This cover is the only one we've come across in 30 years of collecting. It is in VG condition with some ringwear and staining but nothing major. The title seam is completely intact and looks nice. The top seam is about 85% intact with some missing paper and flaking. The bottom seam is about 60% intact with some flaking and splitting near the edges. The LP is a genuine "Version I" LP with "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" and the rarer oval logo variation (VJ 1062(1).MR1B from Bruce Spizer's "Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles Records on Vee-Jay book). The LP itself is in VG+ condition with clean labels and some sheen left--it plays and sounds great with hardly any surface noise. The trailoff area has a mastering date of 6-29-63 hand etched (signifying the earliest US mastering of these 12 songs) and "Audio Matrix" machine stamped in the dead wax. The set also includes an original "Other Fine Albums of Significant Interest" paper inner sleeve which mirrors the "Ad Back" cover!

Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico packages ship MEDIA MAIL for $13 with full insurance and delivery confirmation.
