Rare Original 1st pressing UK LP released in 1964 on the Yellow & Black Parlophone label. Cat: PMC1230. Genuine 1964 UK 1st pressing– The very earliest 1st issue with chunky typeface labels and yellow & Black Parlophone rim labels, ‘Recording First Published…’ and with ‘Sold in UK’ Catalogue number PMC 1230. Comes in its original ultra rare E J Day cover. Dates to the original release date of July 10th 1964. Matrix numbers: XEX 481-3N & XEX 482-3N
Over the next few weeks I will be offering a wonderful selection of rare mostly UK late 50's & 60's 1st pressing LP's and EP's. Obtained from and English gentleman who originally lived in Manchester and saw many of the great acts of the day in their prime. His enthusiasm and knowledge of this period of music and the amount of artists he saw was quite staggering and included Rolling Stones, Beatles, Eric Burdon & Animals, Manfred Mann, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Small Faces, Kinks, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Roy Orbison, Sam Cooke, this list went on and on! A fastidious collector his vinyl overall has been kept in fantastic condition especially considering some of the items are over 50 years old! Many of the items would have been bought within weeks of their original release dates. We offer combined postage on all items purchased. Hopefully I will have the opportunity to list his 45's in the near future. Over 300 wonderful items from the same period.
Considering the quality of the original material on With the Beatles, it shouldn't have been a surprise that Lennon & McCartney decided to devote their third album to all-original material. Nevertheless, that decision still impresses, not only because the album is so strong, but because it was written and recorded at a time when the Beatles were constantly touring, giving regular BBC concerts, appearing on television and releasing non-LP singles and EPs, as well as filming their first motion picture. In that context, the achievement of A Hard Day's Night is all the more astounding. Not only was the record the de facto soundtrack for their movie, not only was it filled with nothing but Lennon-McCartney originals, but it found the Beatles truly coming into their own as a band by performing a uniformly excellent set of songs.

Record shows some sign of spindle marks on labels. There are some light scuff marks on the vinyl that produce a few light crackles mostly only noticeable between tracks. This record is graded at Excellent. Cover is fully intact, no sign of seam splits or surface tears around edges, back cover has a few light marks and bottom left corner is very slightly scuffed. Cover is in Excellent condition.
We offer combined postage for multiple purchases. All records are sealed securely in a plastic sleeve and housed in a stiff cardboard mailer which is then wrapped in paper and sealed around edges with masking tape.
