Description

The Beatles - Please Please Me rare “3rd” UK Mono Press, 2nd April 1963.


The third UK Press - and first on the newly designed yellow & black Parlophone label can be identified by the small ‘33⅓’ near the label centre hole left over from the original black & gold label designs of the first press. These elusive labels are even rarer than the 2nd press "Northern Songs" Golds, and for many years went unnoticed until very recently.

Labels: Without 'Recording first published 1963' and with '33⅓'


Sleeve: Front laminated flip-back sleeve, large “mono“ sleeve, 'Printed and Made By Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd. London' on the back bottom right-hand corner.


Inner: Lined “Use Emitex” die-cut inner sleeve.


Mother & stampers: 1 RA & 1 RG (1st Mothers on both sides)

CONDITION:


The Disc

In good natural light the record exhibits a glossy and clean appearance without marks or scratches. When viewed under strong focused halogen spotlight only a short light hairlines can be seen. EXCELLENT PLUS! This is a fantastic player from the moment the needle lowers onto the disc. Quiet lead-ins with no hiss or fuzz straight into that famous count-in. The playback continues in the same vein throughout with no issues to distract from the listening experience, no pops or clicks and of course no skips or sticks with this high grade. A fantastic listening experience. EXCELLENT PLUS! The disc sits completely flat on the turntable without warping or dishing. 


The Sleeve

The laminate front still has its original glossy sheen without ring wear. Sharp edges and unworn fully-readable spine. The matte card back shows light signs of age, no writing, no rips, no splits, no tape. EXCELLENT PLUS!


The Inner

Original lined Emitex inner sleeve without splits, stains and fully intact, EXCELLENT PLUS!


Overall a fantastic condition rare 3rd UK -1N/-1N 1st matrix early press of a Beatles classic in mono.
