In this auction:

• “WILD LIFE” LP by Paul McCartney & Wings

• This LP is Apple Records SW - 3386.

• This LP was released December 7, 1971.

• This LP has a RARE STICKER at the top of the front shrink wrap that reads:

  PAUL McCARTNEY

  AND FRIENDS

• This rectangular sticker is white with dark blue printing. The sticker has a glossy finish and measures 2 & just over ¾ -inches X 1 -inch.

• This STICKER is RARELY FOUND.

• The more common sticker found on this LP has a green background with “WINGS WILD LIFE” in yellow.

• I read on-line at Fab Four Collectibles that Capitol and Apple had concerns that the image on the front cover was insufficient in letting record buyers know that they were looking at the new Wings LP. So, to address this issue, Capitol produced the “WINGS WILD LIFE” green sticker with and yellow print to be placed on the front shrink wrap of some of the covers. But later when the folks at Capitol and Apple realized that many people didn’t know that Wings was Paul’s new band,   a new sticker with “PAUL McCARTNEY AND FRIENDS” in dark blue on white was produced with blue print on white was produced (I believe this is APP 3386.92 in Bruce Spitzer’s The Beatles Solo on Apple page 143.)

• The COVER is in VERY STRONG VG+ CONDITION. It is STILL in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP. The rear has about a 9-inches x 3-inches irregular piece of shrink wrap missing that can be seen in the images. Only some aging /”foxing” on the rear cover near the opening, just a little bit of wear on the top and bottom corners at the opening, and 2 small staple holes at the top left corner of the front cover (but really only visible at the top right corner of the rear cover) where a price tag was attached when the LP was initially sold keep me from grading the cover Near Mint.

• The VINYL is in NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) CONDITION with just a few very light surface hairlines/scuffs. The vinyl has CUSTOM APPLE LABELS. (Check Images)

It’s a VERY NICE COPY of this LP with a VERY RARE STICKER to add to your vinyl collection!

NOTE: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

It seems that my eyes, I suppose due to some color-blindness, failed me in interpreting the print color on the sticker. Prompted by a question about the print color from an Ebay member, I consulted with several other long-term vinyl-collectors this weekend at a record show. Their consensus is that the PRINT IS BLACK.

This would seem to indicate that this sticker is UNDOCUMENTED, which would increase its rarity.

Further consensus was that this STICKER IS OLD and has most likely been on the shrink wrap for a very long time. This is based on the fact that the sticker, with a glossy surface, has AGE-SPOTTING (as you can see in the images).
