DIFFERENT GEAR MIXES

This is a very record! Pressed in very small numbers (one retailer at the time said only 50 were pressed) As this is so rare that some people may not know the story behind it - so here goes....
In 2001 Paul McCartney released the WINGSPAN (Hits And History) a double album with the hits on one CD and choice tracks on the other. To promote the album and make it contempory Paul got famous remixers to work on some of the songs. Promo copies of 3 different remixes of Silly Love Songs were issued in Germany & Japan (2 edits of a mix by Loop Da Loop and a mix by Artful Dodger).
In the UK there were 2 No. 12" promo releases: 12 WIN DJ 002 which had a Loop Da Loop mix on one side and a Linus Love mix of Coming Up on the other side. However of more interest was 12 WIN DJ 001 which contains 2 different mixes of "Wingin' It" . Different Gear are a duo (Quinn Whalley & Gino Scarletti) and were given the Silly Love Songs and the Let 'Em In muti-track tape. Unlike the other remixers, they chose instead the parts of the tracks that were not used on the original mix (un-used vocals, instrumental riffs etc. The result - you get to here Paul singing stuff you've never heard him sing before and the resulting 9 minute mixes (one each side of the 12") were so good that Paul decided to issue both on the first promo 12" even though these don't sound anything like the original songs. These have never been issued commercially, or made available on a promo CD. The don't seem to have made it onto those naughty bootleg albums either - the only place to find them is on this 12 inch promo single only. In fact this single is SO RARE that some Beatle discographies don't even mention it at all (for example John Blaney in his book Together Alone mentions 12 WIN DJ 002 but not 12 WIN DJ 001 - this one).
