THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'/'ASK ME WHY'
This fine copy of their 2nd UK 45 is a 1st pressing from initial January 1963 release on the red & silver Parlophone label: 45-R 4983
Both labels carry the 'Dick James Music Co. Ltd' publishing credit and the 'Made in Gt. Britain' text.
A 'ZMT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the 'Please, Please Me' label with 'MPT' codes in both run-outs.
Matrix numbers: 7XCE 17217-1N & 7XCE 17218-1N
Stamper codes: 1/GG & 1/GR
Housed within an original 'beach striped' Parlophone company cover.

Labels: EXCELLENT
A clean and bright pair there are many light spindle trails around each slightly worn centre hole, but no writing, stickers or missing paper.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Extremely clean deep-gloss playing surfaces of which the 'Please, Please Me' side MINT & unmarked. The 'Ask Me Why' side bears a light non-feelable stylus hairline together with and a 1cm non-feelable mark, but there are no other marks or wear whatsoever on these immaculate surfaces which both lie flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +
This great sounding 45 mix plays wonderfully with a power and clarity missing from the dubbed LP cut. My single careful play-check at volume detected just the faintest trace of playwear to a few peaks 'Please, Please Me' but this really is barely noticeable. Happily 'Ask Me Why' is completely free of any background crackle or interference, making this copy one which will not disappoint.
