1963 UK '3rd' PRESS *STEREO* LP
**ULTRA-RARE EARLY COPY**
Despite its black & yellow label, the '1/G' stamper on side 2 signifies that this copy was one of the first few hundred copies ever pressed.
This extremely rare 1963 UK '3rd' STEREO pressing is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PCS 3042
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' & 'Recording First Published..' texts.
The rims around each label begin 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..'
The 'MT' tax/price code is visible on the side 2 label.
Housed a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' large stereo logo cover.
Complete with its original poly-lined 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1 & YEX 95-1
Stamper numbers: 1/P & 1/G
Visual: EXCELLENT PLUS
Outstanding 'as new' bright & glossy surfaces on both sides with no groove-whitening or dulling to either surface from incorrect long-term storage.
Apart from a single light fingernail scuff and faint hairline stylus scratch in side 2, both sides are totally unmarked viewed in strong daylight.
Close & careful inspection directly under a halogen desk lamp reveals some wispy inner-sleeve removal but no further marks or wear.
100% flat both sides on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT PLUS
This copy has been barely played and as a result, the sound throughout is pristine clean & clear on all tracks.
There is no trace of any background crackle/noise or groovewear distortion in either channel anywhere.
Apart from 3 soft ticks between track 1 & 2 on side 1 and between 4 & 5 on side 2, I could find no other evidence of any audible faults or wear.
An incredible sounding copy, unlikely to surface again.
Cover: EXCELLENT MINUS
This rare example is clean & strong, displaying just light touches of storagewear without any major faults.
The front panel retains a vibrant, glossy laminate with no 'thumbnails', creasing or other significant wear.
The lower corners have a hint of shelfwear & the opening edges are clean and sharp with no tears or 'feathering'.
The rear panel is clean & white but with evidence of 2 stickers removed in the upper right corner.
All flipbacks are in perfect, undamaged condition & both seams are strong with no flaking laminate.
The spine is fully worded & in perfect condition.
