This is a 1st press mono PLEASE PLEASE ME , black and gold labels with MT tax stamp on side one. Matrix ending -1 -1 and dick james credits for please please me etc. The labels are a little faded but you can see that there is not much spindle wear at all. Cover is EJ day and the angus mcbean is not right in the left hand corner. I personally dont think the angus mcbean being in the far right bottom corner means a great deal- I have seen quite a few Y+B presses with the angus mcbean print in the far right position. The sleeve has an area of discolouration on the bottom opening edge- ive added some photos. Id still grade the sleeve as VG overall. No writing, rips, sticker tears, splits etc. Decent shape to fully ledgible spine. The inner is the correct poly lined emitex and its very clean with no splits. The vinyl is pretty clean with a lot of brushing lines and some light hairlines. It does have some fine horizontal scratching on the beginning of track one side 1 which causes it to skip for 2 revolutions only. It generally plays VG with some light background noise at times but the music remains easily prominent. It did not skip when it was played at the persons house i bought it off but the skip is consistent on my basic pro-ject deck. Ive had it proffessionally cleaned and it also skipped on the cleaners deck- geoff from classical records, Luton. Ive just listened to the whole album and there are no other skips at all. It plays through great. Nice loud mono mix. . Apologies for the crap photos, i needed to use the flash. We wont have sunlight again in the north-east of England until at least may. Grading system: While I use UK’s “Record Collector” Grading System please note that GRADINGS ARE VISUAL UNLESS STATED. surface mark or deterioration in the sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in the sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover, or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound has noticably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding,scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration etc. I will at times use a + or - to indicate when a record falls between the grades.
