THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
UK 1963 *BLACK & GOLD* LABEL MONO LP
**NEAR MINT 'NORTHERN SONGS' COPY**
This outstanding 1963 mono pressing is on the UK black & gold Parlophone label: PMC 1202
Both labels carry the corrected 'Northern Songs' publishing credits for songs 1 & 2 on side 1 and 4 & 6 on side 2.
The 'MT' tax/price code is visible on the side 2 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper numbers: 2/GL & 1,2/M
Housed in a correct, early front laminated, tri-flipback 'E.J. Day' printed mono cover.
The 'Angus McBean' credit is positioned in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
This copy comes with its original 'NEMS' plastic cover from Brian Epstein's Liverpool record shop.
CONDITION DiscLabels: MINT
An outstanding, pristine set with no spindle marks, holewear/touch-up, writing or missing paper.
Although difficult to see in the pictures, there is even gold print around the centre hole on side 1.
Visual: Side 1 NEAR MINT Side 2 EXCELLENT PLUS
This copy has hardly left its inner-sleeve in 43 years and both surfaces retains their 'as new' deep gloss shines, with no groove-whitening or storage wear.
Side 1 is unmarked in daylight & reveals just a bright 'rainbow' shine and a few barely visible inner-sleeve removal hairlines under a halogen desk lamp.
Side 2 bears two light, 1cm scratches on track 2 but is, apart form a few wispy paper hairlines under halogen light, otherwise unmarked .
Pressed on very thick, heavy vinyl which lies 100% flat on both sides with no signs of dishing or warping.
Audio: NEAR MINT
This copy plays 'as new', with absolutely no background noise/crackle or groovewear distortion audible on any track or either channel.
Even the easily & most frequently damaged inner tracks: 'Please, Please Me' & 'Twist & Shout', play perfectly.
Both run-ins & all bands play silently with no clicks, pops any other traces of audible wear.
Impossible to upgrade - you will not be disappointed.
Cover: EXCELLENT
An early & strong example with a high-gloss, undamaged front panel laminate which bears a few light edge wrinkles but no heavy creasing or major wear.
There are small rubs to the lower corners from shelfwear, but the upper two are clean with no splits or missing paper.
Apart from a 2cm long sliver of missing paper to the front opening edge, both are clean & sharp with no tears or 'feathering'.
The rear is clean & white with just a some faint handling marks, but no writing or missing paper.
All the delicate flipbacks are in-place and undamaged & both seams are clean & unsplit.
The spine is clean, undamaged and perfectly worded.
Smooth & clean with just some minor storagewear creases, but no splits, tears or writing.
