'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1963 UK EARLY '3rd' PRESS MONO* LP
This pressing carries the the very first, short-lived version of the 'yellow & black' Parlophone label. Pressed for just a few days, both labels carried a small '33 1/3' figure in the 9 o'clock position. It was then quickly realised that because the new design included a larger '33 1/3' figure in the 11 o'clock position, the small one which had been present in that position on all black & gold labels, was now obsolete. Copies with this label are without doubt rarer than black & gold labelled editions.
This copy has that first black & yellow Parlophone label - PMC 1202
Both labels includes the abovementioned small '33 1/3' figure on each label in the 9 o'clock position.
Without 'Sold in UK..' label text or 'Recording First Published' texts,
Both labels have 'Parlophone Co..' rims
'ZT' tax/price code on side 2 label.
Correct & early front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed, large mono cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner sleeve.

Visual: VERY GOOD +
Superb clean, bright & glossy surfaces which in daylight show just a 2 light fingernail lines on side 1 and a single moderate scratch on track 1. Side 2 is completely unmarked. Apart from a bright 'rainbow' shine and a few wispy inner-sleeve removal hairlines visible only under direct halogen light, there are no further marks or wear.
Play: EXCELLENT
Outstanding clean & clear sound throughout with no traces of any audible wear on or between any track. There is no background crackle or groovewear on any track. I would have graded 'EXCELLENT +' audibly if it were not for a single groove jump on track 1, side 1. However, apart from this, there are no further audble faults or wear.
Cover
GOOD +
Clean & strong with a high-gloss front laminate which bears a just single crease but no major faults. There is some wear to the upper & lower seams and a small 2cm split to the upper edge & a repair to the lower right corner. The rear panel is clean & white with just a tiny written number '40' but no discolouration or missing paper. There is some minor wear to the lower flipback but all are inplace. The spine is clean, undamaged & fully worded.
- Strict grading under strong daylight & halogen light to UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
