Description
THE BEATLES - ''PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
This German Odeon pressing of 'Please, Please Me' was first pressed in February 1964 for export purposes only. However, this copy is an extremely rare 1973 pressing of the same album on the similar gold rimmed red & white Odeon label: ZTOX 5550
The main difference occurs in the matrix numbers which read: SHZE 117 A-1X & SHZE 117 B-1
The matrices for the 1964 pressing did not include the 'X'.
Vinyl weight: 153g
The disc is housed within a fully laminated thinner card German printed cover, completely different from the 1964 pressing which was from much thicker card and had a different construction.
Also present is the original plain white poly-lined inner-sleeve.

A sparkling clean & unworn set with just small number of barely noticeable spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Both playing surfaces are clean, bright & glossy bearing just some light surface consistent with sleeve removal and turntable contact but no heavy scuffs, marks or anything I would call a scratch. Close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp does little more than highlight these minor blemishes and adds only a sparkling rainbow shine to the proceedings. Both sides of this rare copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Play: EXCELLENT
This copy has clearly only been sparingly played on good quality equipment as the sound throughout is clean, clear and free from any trace of groove/playwear distortion in either channel. In fact, apart from an few light ticks between tracks, there really is little to fault.
Cover: VERY GOOD +
A clean & glossy example which bears some light storagewear but no major faults. The front panel is perfectly clean & glossy with just a trace of storage rubbing and a few tiny spine wrinkles but no 'thumbnails' or any other significant wear. There is minor shelfwear to the corners and light wear to the opening edges but no tears or splits to any. The rear panel is clean & bright with the only blemish being a small stain in the lower right corner. Both seams and the fully worded spine are all smooth, unstressed & unsplit.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
