'Please Please Me', the first LP by The Beatles.

UK mono original very first pressing - black and gold Parlophone label with 'Dick James Mus Co' publishing credit for Please Please Me, I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Do You Want To Know A Secret and There's A Place.

Laminated (to front), flipback E.J. Day sleeve with 'displaced' Angus Mc. Bean photo credit (to far right hand side bottom corner of the sleeve)

Polythene lined 'Use Emitex' die-cut inner sleeve.

ZT tax code on side two label - Z to the left side of the centre hole. T to the right side of the centre hole (with an 'M' above the centre hole).

Side One matrix is: XEX 421-1 N (with an 'M' stamped into the run-off area to the right side of the label)

Side Two matrix is: XEX 422-1 N (with a 'T' stamped into the run-off area to the right side of the label)

The sleeve is in very good condition - There is a moderate amount of wear to all sides, some small laminate creases and some tearing to the rear flip backs. There is some very light staining to the rear of the sleeve and a faint pen mark where someone has written their name at the top of the rear sleeve. The spine and edges are largely intact, with a couple of small splits. There is also a small pin hole to two of the corners - it looks like someone has pinned this sleeve on their wall at some time. There is some corner damage but the spine is nice and straight with all printing intact and unsplit.

This amount of wear is to be expected. This is the genuine sleeve for this record. It has not been swapped for another sleeve or messed about with in any way. It is in remarkably good shape and is easily the best example I ever found in over 20 years of collecting.

The original inner sleeve is in excellent condition with just a few corner creases.

The labels are in great condition. Totally clean and intact with no writing or tears and no fading or rubbing. There are (remarkably!) only a few very light spindle marks. These labels are just great!

The vinyl has several marks to both sides. Most of these appear to be moderately light and this record plays extremely well indeed. It is graded as very good, but plays as 'excellent'. There are no jumps or skips and no major deterioration of sound quality.

Overall, this item is properly graded as 'Very Good'

This was the finest copy I ever found in over 20 years of collecting. I know that better copies probably do turn up, but I've never seen one!

Remember that this is the first pressing of this LP, with the Dick James Mus. credit for 5 songs.

A real piece of history and a nice copy! I have had to put a moderate reserve on this - just £100...!
