Description
This is an original mono vinyl first pressing of The Beatles 1st album "Please Please Me" - cat no PMC1202 with the sought after gold & black Parlophone labels. This copy is complete with it's original Ernest J Day sleeve and it's original Emitex inner sleeve. I am selling this on behalf of my sister who bought the album new in '63.
VINYL
The matrix numbers are Side 1, XEX 421 - 1N and Side 2, XEX 422 - 1N. The vinyl itself is in fair condition with a number of surface marks, but visual inspection under a halogen lamp suggests that both sides are in reasonable condition for their age. There are no deep marks or scores. Unfortunatley I cannot verify the audio quality of the album as I do not have a record player. However I do know that the LP has not been played in well over 20 years!
LABELS
Gold on black Parlophone. Both labels are in very good condition - no stickers or writing, some spindle marks but not excessive. Side 1 has the MT stamp and all 4 McCartney-Lennon numbers carry the Dick James Music publishing credit. Side 2 - “Do You Want To Know A Secret" and "There's A Place" carry the Dick James Music publishing credit, the other 2 McCartney-Lennon numbers carry the Ardmore & Beechwood publishing credit.
SLEEVE
The laminated flipback sleeve has maintained its glossiness with the front of the sleeve in pretty good shape and the spine text fully legible. The reverse of the sleeve has some age wear and damage to the lower and upper flipback (please see photo) . There is no writing anywhere on the sleeve. The inner Emitex sleeve is in very good condition with only a minor tear on the outer vertical edge.
