1963 Mono UK Pressing (PMC 1202)

Up for sale is an authentic 1963 UK Mono pressing of The Beatles' legendary debut album Please Please Me on the iconic black and yellow Parlophone label. This copy features the earliest 1N/1N matrix stamps — a highly desirable early-production variant.

Label: Black & Yellow Parlophone with yellow £ trademark. Rim text reads "THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD." Includes "Recording First Published 1963" at the 9 o'clock position on both labels.

Publishing Credits: "Dick James Mus. Co." appears for tracks 6 & 7 on Side 1. The absolute earliest 1st pressings show "Ardmore & Beechwood" for tracks 1–4; this variant uses Dick James — an early but corrected credit layout. Side 2 shows the "Mecolico" credit — correct early variant.

 

--- CONDITION REPORT ---

Vinyl (Graded VG / Very Good): Displays factory gloss with standard vintage hairline scuffs and light surface marks from handling over 60+ years. No deep, feelable scratches visible. Plays with classic punchy mono sound — some light background crackle in quiet passages consistent with age.

Sleeve (Graded G+ / VG-): Original 1963 laminated three-flipback jacket printed by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd. London — clearly visible on spine. EMITEX cleaning material logo present. Spine shows significant fraying, paper splitting, and edge wear at the bottom corner — fully visible in photos. Front laminate retains shine; seams are intact. Reverse side has the name "RATCLIFFE" neatly written in vintage red ink on upper right.

Inner Sleeve: Original polythene-lined "Use Emitex" cleaning material inner sleeve included.
