THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE PLEASE ME'
1963 UK *STEREO* PRESSING LP
This unusual & rare UK 1963 stereo pressing carries two different variations of the black & yellow Parlophone label: PCS 3042
As you can see opposite, the side 1 label omits the 'Recording First Published..' text but the side 2 label includes it.
The printed text around the perimeter of each labels begins; 'The Parlophone Co. Ltd...'.
A seldom seem 'MKT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.
The disc is housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover with a large stereo front indicator.
This copy comes complete with its original 'Use Emitex..' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1 & YEX 95-1
Stamper numbers: 1/GD & 1/P
Disc weight: 175g
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: EXCELLENT
A clean & bright pair with nothing more than a small collection of spindle marks around each centre hole.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Both playing surfaces of this well looked-after disc are bright, clean & glossy in strong daylight with some some light wispy hairlines consistent with inner-sleeve removal & careful play, but nothing I would term a scratch. Close examination directly beneath halogen light reveals no further significant marks or wear. The disc does lie a little unevenly on the turntable, on side 1 mainly which does cause the arm to rise & fall slightly but does not affect sound or play.
Play: EXCELLENT
The copy was clearly only ever played on good quality equipment as the sound is clean, clear & unworn throughout. My careful play check detected no groove/play wear in either channel on any track or any significant traces of wear. I heard no clicks, pops or any other such unwanted distractions on or between any of these great sounding tracks.
Cover
VERY GOOD
A very strong and firm example which retains a vibrant, glossy front laminate showing little more than a touch of storage rubbing but no 'thumbnails' or any other creasing or wear. There is mild wear to each corner & a some tiny 'pushes to the front opening edge but certainly no major damage anywhere. The rear panel is respectably white and clean with faint storage rubbing but no significant blemishes or any writing or missing paper. There is some damage to the flipback in the upper right corner but otherwise all are fully intact and undamaged. Apart from a small 'nick' to the upper edge, all are smooth, unstressed & undamaged. The spine is fully worded and laminated with no splits or stresses.
Inner-sleeve
VERY GOOD +
Some minor, light creasing from storage but no writing, splits or tears.
