Description

THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'

1963 UK *DECCA CONTRACT PRESSING* MONO LP

Due to overwhelming demand, EMI contracted rivals Decca to press a limited quantity of this LP (mono only) in late 1963/early 1964. The Decca pressing is chiefly recognizable by a deep groove which runs approximately 1cm inside the perimeter of each label.

This EXCELLENT example is on that 'deep groove' yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1202

Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but have 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..' rims.

There is no tax/price code is present in the centre of either label.

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed large mono logo cover.

Complete with its original poly-lined inner-sleeve.

Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N

Stamper codes: 1,11 & 14

Disc weight: 139g

Labels: EXCELLENT

Clean & bright with nothing more than a small collection of clumsy spindle trails to each centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Extremely clean & bright surfaces which retain all of their 'as new' bright & deep-gloss shine in strong daylight with only one or two insignificant light surface scuffs, but no scratches anywhere. Close inspection beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals nothing more than a sparkling rainbow shine but no additional visual blemishes on either side.

Play: VERY GOOD +

A respectable sounding copy which has received a number of careful plays. My playcheck at volume revealed just some minor playwear to the peaks on some of the innermost tracks, but no clicks, pops or any other significant audible faults.

Cover

VERY GOOD +

A clean & glossy example with a bright, unscratched high-gloss front laminate which bears just few minor handling wrinkles. There is slight shelfwear to the lower corners & opening edges but nothing major. The rear panel has some age-toning but is free form any marks, writing or missing paper. All flipbacks, seams and the spine are fully intact, unworn & undamaged.

Inner-sleeve

VERY GOOD +

Light/normal handling & storagewear but no splits, tears or writing.
